Europeans had no idea what lies on the other side of the world. They believed there were sea monsters and heard series of shipwreck stories.

- What will you do if you actually run into other people?
I would attempt to form an alliance since those people might as well have no idea about what lies beyond the horizon. Then I would form relationship with them to share trades and gain wealth.

The average caravel was 65 feet long and was the first colossal ship to sail against the wind, with the triangular design influenced by the Arabs. Its huge cargo space stored supplies necessary for the sailors long voyages in addition to trade items that made the merchants capable of mass trading with foreign countries.

New England colonies exchanged rums and other goods for slaves in Africa. Then they would sell the slaves to West Indies for sugar and molasses which eventually were sold to the New England rum producers.
